Munster focus on value for fans
Admission fees have been frozen, although there is an exception made for the Munster SHC quarter-final between Clare and Waterford in Thurles on June 2 with covered, uncovered and terrace tickets cut by €5 across the board.
“It is reduced by 17% [from €30 to €25] for the covered stand, 20% [from €25 to €20] for the uncovered stand and 25% [from €20 to €15] for the terrace,” explained Munster PRO Ed Donnelly.
Stand tickets for the Munster hurling semi-finals remain priced at €30 while it will cost €20 for a stand ticket (€15 terrace) for the quarter-final games between Kerry and Tipperary in Killarney and Limerick and Cork in the Gaelic Grounds later this month.
Donnelly pointed out the council’s determination to see more clubs take advantage of the discount deals available.
“We have begun working directly with the clubs in the province to ensure a better take-up of the club discounts on offer which will result in a €5 to €10 saving for each ticket at all games.
“We will also be promoting the family tickets, juvenile groups and also the fact that four non-ticketed Munster SFC games will see U16s admitted free of charge.
“We were disappointed with the amount of take-up in the discounted tickets last year. We felt it wasn’t an adequate response to merit the value that was in it.
“We’re going to call all the club chairmen across the province and make sure they are fully aware that their members can avail of a €5 or €10 discount on their ticket for every game.”
Donnelly also revealed the Munster Council are hoping to put together packages for supporters whose county teams feature in the competition in quick succession.
“Waterford play on successive days and other counties could be out in successive weekends, so we’re looking at that and providing more value for supporters, although nothing is yet finalised.”
That is expected to be confirmed at Monday’s launch of the Munster senior championships in Mallow.
