The game was only in the seventh minute when the Cloyne player fell to the ground in agony and it was clear the injury was serious.

After receiving medical attention, he was transferred by ambulance to hospital.

Both teams, along with referee Kevin Murphy from Nemo Rangers, quickly agreed to call off the match.

Paudie’s two brothers, Eoin and Diarmuid, were also lining out with Imokilly at wing-back and full-forward respectively.

The score at the time was 0-2 to 0-1 in favour of Cork IT. Paudie had registered the Imokilly point from a free just moments before he went down injured.
