Sheehy feeling Kingdom pain after ‘galling’ defeat

Kerry selector Mikey Sheehy admits he was more disappointed by the team’s defeat to the county’s old nemesis Dublin on Sunday than he was by the loss to Mayo the previous week.

While careful not to criticise the players too severely, the eight-time All-Ireland winner admitted their scoring return from the start of the second half in Castlebar to their entire return in Killarney was “galling”.

Feeling Kerry were “beaten fair and square by Mayo” and “more than beaten fair and square by Dublin”, Sheehy said: “The most disappointing thing from our point of view after the two games was the performance level.
