Haven set up Nemo final
In a 0-13 to 0-10 win, Michael Hurley, Eoin Dennehy, Seánie Cahalane and Shane Nolan all scored for the Haven, who led by 0-7 to 0-5 at half time. Liam Collins impressed in midfield, while David Limrick and Chris Hayes were the pick of the
defence and Stephen Hurley worked hard in attack.
Jason Sexton got four points for the Barrs while Gearóid Neff got two but the Haven finished strongly to set up a repeat of last year’s Kelleher Shield final, which Nemo won. The final is due to be played on Wednesday, though Castlehaven have indicated that they are unlikely to field on that date. Should the county board refuse to switch, then Nemo may be awarded a walkover.
Also on Saturday, Dohenys claimed the first silverware of 2013 as they beat Ballincollig by 2-9 to 0-6 in the Tadhg Crowley Plate final in Dunmanway.
Both of the home side’s goals came in the first half, Daniel O’Donovan — who finished with 1-3 — and Kevin O’Connell on target, with the half time score 2-3 to 0-4. John Kelly and Brian Glavin were Ballincollig’s most prominent scorers.
In the Tom Creedon Cup, Alan Hogan’s second-half goal was key as Na Piarsaigh defeated Macroom by 1-9 to 0-10 to advance to the final. They play Cill na Martra or St Michael’s, who meet tonight.
