Cronin to captain Cork
“We put a lot of thought into it, as we do into everything we do though people mightn’t think so. Pa had an outstanding year last year and is a very popular figure. He has great leadership qualities, that’s why we appointed him,” explained Cork manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy after the side’s 3-20 to 1-16 Waterford Crystal Cup victory over UCC on Saturday.
Cronin takes the role from Donal Óg Cusack whose term as skipper was ended early last season when the veteran custodian suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in Cork’s league semi-final win over Tipperary.
