O’Neill says card system can fight racism

GAA president Liam O’Neill says the new black card system can be the Association’s first step in their new initiative to combat racism.

Under the Football Review Committee’s refined proposal which will form a motion at Congress, one of the five fouls which merit a black card, that is automatic substitution, is for the use of abusive or provocative language or gestures to players. Central Council will shortly endorse a separate motion on racism while Wexford have a motion calling for racist abuse to be made a red card offence.
