In stark contrast to the startling financial revelations that rocked the county in 2011, Monday night’s Wexford GAA Convention announced a huge turnaround for 2012.

The operating surplus for the year was €118,056 compared to a deficit of €21,473 in 2011. When extraordinary items are taken into account, totalling €118,283, which includes a revenue settlement of €30,479, coupled with grants of €150,000 from Croke Park and a National Lottery Grant of €159,858, the net surplus for the year comes in at €309,631 compared to a €90,285 net surplus for 2011.

Income for the year is up by almost €100,000 which is helped by an increase in gate receipts of €64,000.

Of quite some significance was the huge improvement in fund raising activities showing an increase of over €110,000. The income for fundraising for 2012 was €382,300 compared to €271,698 the previous year.

The Boxing Night was a resounding success also, bringing in the remarkable sum of €34,251. Teams expenses came to €663,762 for 2012, compared to €632,467 for the previous year.

Administration expenses dropped from €383,972 in 2011 to €270,463 this year with staff costs reduced from €201,609 to €130,300 in 2012.

Chairman, Diarmuid Devereux, was returned unopposed for a second term.
