Westmeath secretary James Savage reiterated his concerns the GAA is pumping too much money into counties which boast high populations.

In his report to convention, Savage expressed his worry about the future for counties like Westmeath and fears the financial gap between the haves and the have-nots will widen.

“Last year I made the point about smaller counties and their limited resources and I again make the point. Vast amounts of money are pumped into big centres of population who also attract the major sponsorships, but our teams also have to be prepared in a similar fashion, but on a much tighter budget.
