Brosnan likely to be fit for Crokes
Chairman Vince Casey, who joint-manages the team with Noel O’Leary, said the three in-a-row county title celebrations were short-lived, with training resumed on Tuesday night.
“We had nearly everybody training. A few of the lads were suffering from knocks and bruises, which is to be expected after the rigours of tough county final, but we expect them all to be fit for the weekend.”
Casey maintains Brosnan’s calf injury is much ado about nothing.
“Eoin did pull up in training on Tuesday night but it was nothing. He just felt a bit of tightness in his calf, and it was due to the exertions of the game on Sunday. It was normal that Eoin, who had been out so long, would feel tightness in his calves after such a big game so he just pulled out as a precaution He feels fine now and we expect him to be playing on Sunday.”
The Crokes chairman felt it was important to celebrate the three in-a-row, but then it was quickly back to the business of trying to regain the Munster Club.
“They enjoyed the celebrations, but it is important now that they focus on Sunday because it’s going to be a titanic battle up in Clare after last year’s game when they really put it up to us on our own ground. It’s arguable that they should have beaten us, but the last 15 minutes we put in got us through.
“We know they have been waiting to meet us on Clare soil and with John Kennedy, who knows our players so well, in charge it’s a dangerous game. Unless we play to the top of our game, our Munster dream could be over before it even starts. So we will be heading to Clare with all guns blazing, and with Fionn Fitzgerald now recovered from illness, we will be stronger than we were against Dingle.”
