KIB boss Kennedy reveals how masterplan paid rich dividends
The former Kerry All-Ireland winner demanded his side put some early points on the board against the Ennis outfit. “We spoke about starting well and, although it was eight minutes before we got a score, once we did the calmness came in and the leaders showed for us and we held the ball and manufactured the scores,” he said.
“Doora Barefield needed a good start today particularly after last year. We felt if we did the opposite it would put them on the back foot and that’s the way it worked out.”
And the victory has offered them a chance at redemption. Last year they fell to Dr Crokes in Killarney in the Munster Club SFC but this year they will host the Kerry champions and promise either Crokes or Dingle a warm welcome. “There was a lot of disappointment last year coming out of Killarney after being beaten by Crokes because we felt it was one we could have won.
“You get one chance and we’re back there now. We’ll look at the Kerry final next Sunday and welcome the winners to Quilty. We’ll have a few nights of celebrations and then get back to work and have a cut at it.”
