McGee sorry for forgotten man Cassidy
The Gweedore man, an All Star last year, was axed from the panel by Jim McGuinness following his revelations about their preparations in a book.
“I do feel for him, definitely,” said McGee. “He is not just a mate, he is a close mate. I go down there for a cup of tea, play with the wee ones [Cassidy’s twin baby girls], I know the whole family very well.”
McGee says neither he nor his brother Neil have ever had problems differentiating their relationship with Cassidy from the one he has with McGuinness.
“It is something that happened, it has nothing to do with me or Neil. It was something between Jim and Kevin. For someone who soldiered for so long, it will be tough for him but at the end of the day there are a lot of players in that position. Shane Carr, Damien Diver… I feel sorry for all of them that they missed their opportunity.”
