Kilrush Shamrocks join Ennistymon, Cooraclare and Doonbeg in the Clare SFC quarter-finals as a result of a three point win over Shannon Gaels at Cooraclare.

It took extra-time to separate the sides, the Shams recording a 1-10 to 1-7 victory. In a low scoring opening half the teams were level at 0-2 points apiece and, at the end of 60 minutes, the scoreboard read 1-7 each. In the additional 20 minutes, Kilrush forged ahead to make the last eight.

At Kilmihil last evening, holders Kilmurry Ibrickane also made it through to the quarter-finals, beating Éire Óg, Ennis 2-6 to 0-6. The men from the west took a 0-3 to 0-2 lead to the dressing room. after racing into a 0-3 to 0-0 ahead with points from the O’Dwyer brothers, Peter (2) and Michael. Éire Óg’s opening half scores came via a Shane Daniels free and a point from play by Sean Crotty.
