Kilmallock, Emmets maintain winning streak
The Tony Considine managed Kilmallock were emphatic 1-16 to 1-10 winners over Murroe-Boher yesterday in Bruff. Midfielder Paudie O’Brien led the way with six points from play and they were 0-13 to 0-5 in front after playing with the wind in the opening half.
But a goal from Graeme Mulcahy five minutes into the second half eased them towards a win.
Elsewhere in this group, Ahane beat Knockainey 1-10 to 0-9 thanks to a Fergus Ahearne goal.
Champions Na Piarsaigh got back on track with a 1-9 to 0-7 win over Hospital-Herbertstown.
Also in this group Croom were 4-14 to 2-6 winners over South Liberties with Conor Laffan and Stephen Cahill getting their goals. Mark Keane replied with 2-5 for Liberties.
Yesterday in Bruff, an injury-time point from Mike Fitzgerald secured a 0-12 each draw for Doon with Patrickswell. The Brian Lohan managed Patrickswell trailed 0-7 to 0-6 at half time.
The other game in this group finished level on Friday night, Garryspillane 5-11, Effin 3-17. Garryspillane scored three goals from Colm Hickey, Danny Hayes and Donie Ryan in the opening seven minutes but trailed 3-3 to 1-11 at half time with Damien Moloney goaling for Effin.
Further goals from Hickey and Hayes looked to have sealed the Garryspillane win but Moloney and Thomas Quaid (free) goaled in the final five minutes to snatch a draw.
In the final group, Adare and Bruree played out a draw in Ballingarry, 0-12 to 1-9. Bruree led 1-2 to 0-3 at the break with Gerard O’Dea goaling. But Adare rallied until Tommy O’Brien secured the draw.
In the other game in this group, last evening in Ballyagran, Emmets beat Granagh-Ballingarry 0-20 to 1-12 after leading 0-13 to 1-6 at half time.
