Nemo bid to finally see off Douglas
Nemo, managed by Larry Kavanagh, will be backboned by their four Cork U21 panellists, Alan Cronin, team captain David Nation, attacker Luke Connolly and defender David O’Donovan.
After defeating St Finbarr’s and St Michael’s to reach this stage, Nemo have momentum behind them but Douglas will be eager to avoid a third successive final defeat.
Their team, which is coached by ex-Cork star Tony Davis, is built around the club’s minor sides that have contested the last two county finals. Paul Fitzgerald, Kevin Davis, Alan Cadogan and Sean Collins will be key figures in their line-up as they look to build on wins over Bishopstown and Na Piarsaigh.
Elsewhere Carrigaline defend their Carrigdhoun U21FC title when they face Valley Rovers in tomorrow’s final in Kinsale at 3pm. Carrigaline reached the county final last year before succumbing to O’Donovan Rossa after a replay and can still call on attacking star David Drake, who featured for CIT in the Fitzgibbon Cup last weekend, as well as Killian McIntyre and Kevin Kavanagh, who both lined out for the Cork minors last year. Their team-mate on that Cork side, Darragh Murphy leads the Valleys charge along with Derek Canty, Gary Farrell and John Cottrell.
Meanwhile Coláiste Treasa (Kanturk) are on the hunt for All-Ireland glory when they face Coláiste Cill Mhaintain in the semi-final of the Vocational SBFC in Templetuohy today at 2pm. Coláiste Treasa defeated Coláiste Ide and Iosaif (Abbeyfeale) by 3-12 to 0-13 to take honours in Munster with Kevin Crowley, a Cork minor last year, Ian Walsh, Sean Cremin and Daniel O’Keeffe all in outstanding form.
Another Duhallow school are also in All-Ireland Vocational action today when Boherbue Comprehensive face Virginia College (Cavan) in Portarlington at 2pm in the semi-final stages of the JAFC competition. Boherbue got the better of Clonakilty CC in their Munster decider.
