Walsh’s club Kanturk qualified for the Cork JFC semi-final with a victory over Glenbower Rovers on Friday night. They are still awaiting the identity of their semi-final opponents following Saturday’s quarter-final draw between St Finbarr’s and Bandon, and that replay will take place Saturday.

Moves will be made to accommodate Walsh by playing the semi-final before he departs for Australia the weekend after next. And in the event of Kanturk being successful, the county final will be deferred until he returns following the second test on November 4th.

With the Cork junior football champions not scheduled to participate in the Munster championship until Sunday November 13th, the board have time to change the timing of the competition.

The board are also likely to makes changes to the schedule of the Cork U21 hurling championship with Walsh involved with divisional outfit Duhallow who have reached the semi-final.

Meanwhile there could also be fixtures headaches facing the Ulster Council and the Dublin county board as a result of the International Rules trip. Donegal champions Glenswilly face Cavan Gaels in the preliminary round of the Ulster Club SFC on Sunday, with the winners advancing to the quarter-finals to face Monaghan representatives Latton on October 30th.

But a complication would arise in that case given Glenswilly star Michael Murphy’s involvement with the Irish squad. The Dublin county board could also face problems if Parnell’s, the club of Irish captain Stephen Cluxton, were to be successful in their SFC clash this weekend against St Sylvester’s.
