Ryan unfazed by champions’ All Star ‘snub’

CORK coach Eamon Ryan was not upset to see his side receive fewer All Star nominations than Monaghan or Dublin despite beating both on the way to the All-Ireland title.

Cork received eight nominations following their sixth All-Ireland in seven years and a fourth Division One league title in a row but Monaghan and Dublin topped the list with 10 and nine nominations respectively. Despite having just cause to be annoyed, Ryan was not upset by the committee’s choices.

“I hadn’t really thought about it,” he said. “All the people who got it would have been people I thought would get it. There would have been one or two more who I thought might get one but sure it’s a matter of personal opinion.”
