Cooper set to return for quarter-final

KERRY captain Colm Cooper is expected to be fit for their All-Ireland SFC quarter-final tie on the August Bank Holiday weekend despite picking up an ankle injury while on club duty with Dr Crokes last weekend.

Cooper set to return for quarter-final

Cooper incurred the knock in training last week with the Killarney club but still lined out in the defending champions 0-11 to 0-5 victory over South Kerry in Caherciveen in the third round of the county SFC last Sunday afternoon. Cooper’s ankle was strapped during that game and subsequently he now faces a short period on the sidelines where he will be forced to miss out on intercounty training. However it is not likely to threaten his participation for the last eight of the All-Ireland series.

Elsewhere Kerry have concerns over the fitness of midfielder Anthony Maher who sustained a back injury while playing for Feale Rangers in their clash with Mid Kerry while defender Shane Enright is still a doubt after pulling his hamstring towards the end of the Munster final victory over Cork and being forced to miss out on Shannon Rangers third round battle with West Kerry.
