Wexford got most things right and early in the second half found themselves two points up and in control. But the game turned unfortunately for them and goalkeeper Anthony Masterson on his decision to punch instead of catch a ball dropping just outside his square and it cannoned off his full-back Graeme Molloy into the net to give Dublin a lead they never surrendered.

They pushed on with an Alan Brogan point and a cracking James McCarthy goal five minutes later to effectively kill off the game. It was a great chance for Wexford, whose efforts deserved more.
