Westmeath’s Ennis in race for fitness

WESTMEATH boss Pat Flanagan is hopeful veteran defender Michael Ennis will be fit for the county’s opening qualifier on Saturday week.

The Ballinagore man was named on the bench in Wexford Park but Flanagan revealed Ennis had only played 30 minutes of football in preparation for the game.

Flanagan said: “Michael came back from a shoulder injury and was doing pretty well but then hurt his knee. He only got half an hour of game time before today, so hopefully between now and the qualifiers we might get more game time for Michael.”
