Barry-Murphy fears unsettled line-up could hit Rebel hopes

THOUGH it is 25 years since he graced the field with his presence, the name Jimmy Barry-Murphy still resonates in GAA circles and in his home county of Cork particularly, with whom he won All-Irelands and All Stars galore in both hurling (five and five) and football (one and two).

This Sunday, however, as Cork begin another Munster senior hurling campaign, taking on All-Ireland champions Tipperary in Thurles, the man who managed a team of kids to a most unlikely All-Ireland title in 1999 has expressed his concern over team selection during the recent league campaign.

Speaking to the GAA’s own website, www.gaa.ie, he said, “I’m worried about Cork because I don’t think they have a settled enough team. I’mdisappointed after the league campaign — we gave some very good displays but I would prefer if there was a more settled team going into to the championship.
