Maher living for the moment

EVEN someone as young and energetic as Tipperary’s powerhouse defender Pádraic Maher admits his hurling life has grown ‘hectic’ in the last nine month.

Maher living for the moment

Since September there was the All-Ireland senior and U21 championship titles, the county crown and the All Star. After Christmas he enjoyed a few weeks break on the team holiday before returning to the inter-county fold for the league. Tomorrow Wexford go to Thurles, and with a club game this evening it’s understandable Maher is being rested with some time on the bench.

“It’s been hectic,” he admits, “especially with the club (Thurles Sarsfields) going so well also. We’re all so young and to be having all this success is wonderful. But you have to enjoy it while it happens because there’s no guarantee it will still be there this year or any other year. We’ve become used to it and we know now what we want, we know too what to expect. The challenge is to keep it going for the next few years.”
