Howlin: I was so low after Leinster final fiasco

LEINSTER Council chairman Sheamus Howlin has described last year’s controversial senior football final between Meath and Louth as “one of the worst days of my life”.
Howlin: I was so low after Leinster final fiasco

Howlin revealed he endured sleepless nights after referee Martin Sludden allowed a hotly-debated late goal by Joe Sheridan which gave the Royals the title for the 21st time and robbed the Wee County of a first provincial crown since 1957.

“It wasn’t a satisfactory ending for anybody and I’m sorry for that. It was probably one of the worst days of my life. When I look back on my GAA career, I will remember that. I can tell you honestly and openly that I didn’t sleep very well for a few nights after that. It did really get to me because I knew the day was ruined for a lot of people and I was very sorry for that,” Howlin said at the presentation of the Leinster SFC medals to the Meath players in Navan.
