Nemo boast full squad for Crokes clash

NEMO RANGERS attacker Barry O’Driscoll will be fit for Sunday week’s Munster Club SFC final against Dr Crokes after recovering from a fractured cheekbone sustained in their semi-final victory over Stradbally in November.

Nemo boast full squad for Crokes clash

O’Driscoll has benefited from the clash being postponed twice before Christmas due to adverse weather conditions. The extra recuperation period has allowed him to return to training and he may get his first taste of action next Sunday when Nemo play Ballincollig in the Tadgh Crowley Cup.

“Barry’s back available, which is a big boost”, says manager Eddie Kirwin.

“In his case the postponements have worked in our favour as he got the extra time to recover and he’s been able to get a nice bit of training under his belt.”

Concerns over midfielder Dylan Mehigan and attacker James Masters have also been allayed, while Kirwin has also been pleased with the fitness levels of Paul Kerrigan, Derek Kavanagh and Brian O’Regan who only returned last Friday from Cork’s team holiday to South Africa.

“James and Dylan are both back fully fit and that leaves us in the nice position of being able to pick from a full squad. The three lads that were with Cork came back in good nick. To be fair they would have done a bit of work while they were away on the holiday, as they realised the importance of the game that we’re preparing for.

“We played UCC in a challenge game last Saturday and all three played some part, and then Brian O’Regan was involved with CIT in the Sigerson Cup on Sunday above in Clare.”

Meanwhile, the Munster Council have announced the fixture arrangements for Saturday week’s McGrath Cup final.

The provincial competition has been moved to the Saturday with the agreement of the competing counties to avoid a clash with the club final between Nemo Rangers and Dr Crokes.

If Clare and Kerry qualify for the final, the game will be played in Tralee, while Páirc Ui Rinn will be the chosen venue if Clare and Cork meet.

If Waterford qualify for the final, the game will be played at a Déise venue irrespective of their opponents.
