Carr backs calls to postpone club deciders

KILMACUD CROKES manager Paddy Carr has backed calls for a postponement of the AIB Leinster club football and hurling finals until the New Year.

O’Loughlin Gaels boss Mick Nolan has already called for the hurling decider to be put back until the New Year after it was cancelled for a second time.

And Crokes manager Carr would be in favour of the football final to be deferred also as the club’s Dublin players are now faced with the prospect of missing out on the county team’s holiday to Dubai.

The Sky Blues are scheduled to jet off on Sunday and last night, Crokes players, officials and management alike were trying to find some resolution to the problem.

Carr said: “The inter-county calendar is different and things are signalled well in advance.

“But it’s different for the clubs and we would respectfully ask that the Leinster Council would look at the situation.

“Obviously if our hurling counterparts are of a similar mind, there’s a lot to be said for listening to the interests of players.”
