Barry: Clubs won’t back McEnaney

FORMER Meath boss Eamonn Barry last night blasted plans to appoint Seamus McEnaney to the county job claiming the Royals don’t need “outside people to come in” and manage the side.

Barry: Clubs won’t back McEnaney

Barry told LMFM: “Seamus McEnaney didn’t achieve much in his six years with Monaghan. There is huge resentment within the clubs over the decision and I believe that 75% of them will vote against the proposal. If that happens, the job should be offered to Gerry Cooney.”

Barry, who was amongst the 13 in the running for the role, was critical of the way officials handled the selection process. “I had ambitions that I might get the job back, I was also treated very unfairly and there is a lot of unhappiness over the way the appointment of the new manager has been handled.”
