Rebels back to grindstone

CORK county board PRO Ger Lane last night insisted they had no control over the scheduling of tonight’s Muskerry U21HC quarter-final between Éire Óg and Cloughduv in Páirc Ui Rinn, in which Ciaran Sheehan will be forced to line out just over 48 hours after helping Cork claim All-Ireland senior football honours.

Lane also revealed that the club fixtures scheduled for this weekend will go ahead as planned with 17 of the victorious Cork senior panel in action.

“It’s unfortunate about that U21 game but that has nothing to do with us. It’s an internal divisional fixture and is a matter for the Muskerry board. There are a lot of club games on this weekend and it’s full steam ahead for us with them as we’ve a busy programme to complete.”
