GALWAY minor football boss Gerry Fahy has emerged as the front-runner to succeed Joe Kernan as senior manager following Monday’s submission of nominations from the clubs.

Fahy guided the Galway minors to this year’s All-Ireland semi-final, served as county senior selector in 1997 and was in charge of the Offaly senior footballers.

Other contenders are former Mayo midfielder Pat Fallon, former Westmeath manager Tomás O’Flatharta, local candidate Matt Duggan and Pete Warren, who was a selector during John O’Mahony’s reign as Galway senior boss.
