Tipperary star Maher will be fit for final
The Borrisoleigh player injured his wrist on Saturday during a team session at the Carton House facility in Maynooth, but last night it was confirmed that the problem is not serious and will not rule him out of the crunch Croke Park clash against Kilkenny.
Opponents Kilkenny received positive news at the weekend when defender John Tennyson reported no ill-effects from a training session after intensive treatment recently on a cruciate ligament injury. With Brian Hogan ruled out with a broken finger, Kilkenny have a vacancy in their team at centre-back, with Tennyson an ideal replacement. Danesfort’s Paddy Hogan is also a contender after he was withdrawn from the Kilkenny IHC team for Saturday’s All-Ireland final against Cork at the request of Brian Cody.
