McEnaney set to stay on as Monaghan manager

McEnaney met with the Monaghan county board management committee in Truagh on Tuesday night and they reacted favourably to his request for a three-year term. McEnaney had been approached by representatives from the county board executive and the senior squad to keep his post and his appointment should now be ratified at a full meeting of the Monaghan county board next Monday night.

It is expected that there will be no changes to Banty’s backroom team which is seen as a crucial development. McEnaney landed a major coup last winter by securing the services of Paul Grimley as coach after his potential appointment as Armagh senior football boss fell through. Grimley, trainer Martin McElkennon and selector Adrian Trappe are all expected to link up again for the 2011 campaign as Monaghan chase the Ulster crown that has eluded them since 1988.
