TYRONE boss Mickey Harte has reiterated his call for the winners of provincial senior football championships to get a second chance and asked the GAA hierarchy to keep an open mind on the structure of the All-Ireland series.

While GAA director general Páraic Duffy described last weekend’s loss in the quarter-finals of all four provincial champions as “unique”, Harte says it was “inevitable”.

Describing the qualifiers as “a qualified success”, Harte points to the success of his own charges in the 2005 and 2008 All-Irelands through the backdoor as strong evidence of the current system’s inequity.
