THE ongoing debate on pitch invasions in Croke Park after All-Ireland finals will be addressed at the opening session of the GAA Congress tonight.

It will be in the form of a presentation from a committee headed by former Tipperary chairman Con Hogan and will mark the first serious move by the leadership to put an end to the practice for good.

When it was put to GAA president Christy Cooney at a recent press briefing that it will be very difficult to change people’s habits, he conceded it might need government legislation to make pitch invasions illegal.
