Kingdom await Cooper eye injury update

KERRY GAA chiefs will today learn the seriousness of an eye injury sustained by All-Ireland winner Colm Cooper, pictured, in Sunday’s NFL win over Monaghan.

Kingdom await Cooper eye injury update

Cooper is set to undergo specialist surgery in Dublin to rectify the visual impairment suffered since he received the blow in the early minutes of the Fitzgerald Stadium clash. The Dr Crokes star received lengthy treatment on the sidelines during the match and was later removed to hospital to have the problem assessed by medics.

Cooper was subsequently referred to an eye specialist and Kerry sources last night confirmed that an operation is required to correct the problem, though there is no definite timeframe on recovery. Kerry begin their championship defence against John Evans’ Tipperary in Thurles on May 16.
