Relegation final ‘postponed’

THE farcical situation concerning proposed relegation from the Liam MacCarthy Cup was all but put to bed yesterday with confirmation that next week’s ‘final’ between Antrim and Wexford has been ‘postponed’.

The reality is that the game will not now go ahead.

The GAA ploughed on with the semi-finals last weekend despite calls for a rethink and threats of boycotts by players in some of the competing counties.

It now seems certain that Carlow will go up and no-one will go down in their place.
