Grants uncertainty worries Gardiner
“It’s worrying that there’s talk of it being scrapped. It’s disappointing. The argument is, are the GAA players doing enough to fund the exchequer as much as others. It’s a question for everybody. But you saw the GAA over the last couple of weeks, they’re drawing huge crowds. There’s been a lot of money generated and you see that with two replays in Munster. We’re under no illusions about the current state of the economy. Every one in the country knows the way things are at the moment with the economic downturn. But I think it’s more a question of status than anything else. It’s disappointing.”
