Adare open title defence in style with easy win

However, second-half goals from Wayne McNamara and Aidan O’Rahilly saw them open their defence in style.

Doon were impressive first round winners when beating Garryspillane 2-14 to 1-8. Michael McKenna and Roger Ryan scored first-half goals. Donie Ryan goaled earlier in the second-half for Garryspillane but they couldn’t overturn the 11 point interval lead.
Two goals from minor Kevin Downes helped Na Piarsaigh to a 3-10 to 1-15 win over Granagh-Ballingarry. The sides were level 1-6 to 0-9 at half time and although Niall Kennedy goaled for Granagh-Ballingarry in the second half, the City side held out to win.
Yesterday in Bruff, Croom were 0-17 to 0-13 winners over Murroe-Boher. Just one point separated the teams at the interval, but Stephen Lucey powered Croom to their win.
In the first of a double-header in Kilmallock, Claughaun defeated Tournafulla, 1-10 to 0-10 thanks to a Gary O’Connor goal midway though the second half. The sides were level 0-6 a-piece at half time.
Intermediate champions Bruff were welcomed to the senior ranks with a 3-20 to 0-11 defeat by divisional side, Emmets. First-half goals from Aidan McAuliffe and Damien Moloney helped Emmets to a 2-8 to 0-6 interval lead.
Shane Hourigan added their third goal as they eased home.
