CORK and Kilkenny have spent more than a century jostling for hurling’s top honours but there wasn’t a hint of schadenfreude yesterday when Richie Hogan was asked about his views on the Cork hurling crisis.

Like everyone else in the country, the Kilkenny man just wants to see an end to the impasse and he believes a compromise, however unlikely that may be at this late juncture, is the only possible exit strategy available to the warring factions.

“There’s two extremes down there and they probably have to meet somewhere in the middle whether they like it or not,” said the Kilkenny forward. “Both sides aren’t going to be happy at the end of it.
