Walsh winning battle for final fitness

KERINS O’Rahilly’s attacker Barry John Walsh is winning his race to be fit in time for next Sunday’s Kerry SFC final.

Walsh winning battle for final fitness

Walsh was stretchered off in the first-half of last Sunday’s Munster Club SFC defeat to Nemo Rangers, suffering from an achilles tendon injury. Initially his prospects of appearing in this Sunday’s tie with Mid Kerry appeared slim but he has recovered well and now looks set to feature in the forward line.

Walsh, who featured for the Kerry minors this summer, has been a key component in Kerins O’Rahilly’s march to the county final, starring in the attack alongside his brother Tommy.

Meanwhile, Mid Kerry’s preparations for their first final appearance since 1992, have been overshadowed by the death of John Giles, brother of defender Alfie Giles, on Tuesday. The funeral took place yesterday in Castlemaine. Alfie Giles is still set to play at left corner-back for Mid Kerry on Sunday.
