O’Gorman: crowd ‘under capacity’

MUNSTER Council Chairman Jimmy O’Gorman last night insisted that the crowd did not exceed capacity at yesterday’s Munster championship clash between Cork and Tipperary at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Gardaí and stewards were forced to let supporters onto the field at the Blackrock end in the opening half but the provincial chief insisted that the stadium was not at capacity for yesterday’s semi-final and the decision was made due to late arrivals.

Mr O’Gorman said the attendance was in the region of 42,000 — 1,500 below capacity.
