‘Fantastic’ McGrath shows Premier class, says Sheedy

IT TOOK Waterford all of 43 years to win their second National Hurling League title in 2007. Less than 12 months later, however, they have been unceremoniously stripped of it by Liam Sheedy’s Tipperary.

A result, and an overall display, that pleased the Tipperary manager, but left him in no doubt that the tougher and more searching tests now lie ahead for his side.

For Waterford boss Justin McCarthy the disappointment of losing the league title was clearly manifest. In fact the assembled media had a 45 minute wait for an interview as McCarthy presided over what one insider described as “a heart to heart’’ with the players as they begin preparations for the first round Munster championship showdown with Clare on June 1.
