Wake up to the golden age

IT COMES from a Greta Garbo film. I can’t remember what it’s called, or even the context, but at one stage, in a moment of high drama, Garbo herself screams: “Bombs may fall . . . civilisations may crumble . . . but give us our moment!”

Clearly the immortal Swede didn’t have representatives from Stradbally or Na Piarsaigh in mind when she made her plea, but I couldn’t help thinking of her last Sunday.

It can be difficult sometimes to pin down the exact moment in a game that’s destined to stay in the memory. More often than not the default choice is the last play, or the goal which broke the deadlock.
