Cork juniors get in mood with easy win over London

THE scoreline at Páirc Uí Chaoimh yesterday tells its own story — easy for Cork. No surprise then that manager Mossy Barrett was a happy camper after seeing his ‘relaxed’ side blitz London on their way to an All Ireland JFC final date with Wexford on Saturday week.
Cork juniors get in mood with easy win over London

Cork’s support play in this one-sided semi-final was superb. Every player wanted the ball, with the result that 12 of the 20 players on duty found the target.

Cork wasted no time in getting down to business as points from Fiachra Lynch, Andrew O’Sullivan, who was superb, and Paudie Kissane powered them three clear in as many minutes and although Fergus McMahon did get the Londoners on the scoresheet with a seventh minute free, the home side’s strong attacking play always proved a handful for the Exiles. Once Vincent Hurley set up Seamus O’Sullivan for their opening goal in the ninth minute, London’s bridge just kept falling down and it took a timely interception from Pádraig McMenamin to deny Pat Dunlea, who scored eight points, a second goal. Noel Roche did get a fine second point for London but Cork were comfortable after the opening quarter leading 1-5 to 0-2.
