Wexford miss out

ON an epic Sunday of winners and losers in the Allianz National Football League and on a day when their hurlers acquitted themselves in Nowlan Park, Wexford footballers were the unluckiest of all.

They narrowly missed out on a place in the new Division Two grouping next season, because while they finished level on points with Meath — and had the exact same scoring difference — they lost out because the Leinster side scored more over the course of the campaign.

Cork avoided the threat of being relegated from Division 1A to Division Three by beating Limerick.
