Brennan promises technology to aid referees

THE GAA will continue to invest in the best technology to aid referees and help improve standards.

Saying that cost would ‘not be an issue’, Association President Nickey Brennan offered this assurance at the National Referee Awards Banquet at the weekend.

Mr Brennan admitted that the only downside of new technology in television coverage of games was that referees were being ‘scrutinised’ more than ever. He noted that many of the media who criticised referees did not appreciate the huge mental pressure the officials were often subjected to.
