Dublin football semi-final postponed due to pitch
Ironically this is the second postponement of the semi-final as an objection by the St Oliver Plunkett’s/ Eoghan Ruadh club into the eligibility of Na Fianna player Gary Mullins forced the game to be called-off last week.
The Navan Road outfit have decided against any further appeals after their objections to the Dublin GAC and the Leinster Council were both thrown out.
A club spokesperson said: “St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh, in the best interest of Gaelic football in Dublin and to enable the Dublin senior football championship to be completed, have decided not to pursue a further appeal as to the eligibility of Gary Mullins.”
Meanwhile, St Vincent’s defender Willie Lowry has been cleared to play against Na Fianna after he successfully appealed his red card dismissal against St Jude’s.
The other semi-final is also proving to be problematic.
Kilmacud Crokes are set to be reinstated to the Dublin SFC after their semi-final opponents UCD offered to rearrange the fixture.
The county champions were sensationally thrown out of the championship following a meeting of the Dublin GAC on Tuesday night, October 17, but a re-fixture has been provisionally scheduled for next Friday week at Parnell Park following talks with the College outfit.
