MacGearailt to miss Mayo clash
He is understood to have damaged or broken a bone in his hand at training on Saturday, continuing his cursed luck with injury in recent times.
MacGearailt has fallen down the pecking order this year, but was still a viable attacking option for the Kerry selectors, ahead of their September 17 date with the Connacht champions.
The fourth metacarpal bone in his hand is believed to have been damaged during a practice match at Fitzgerald Stadium.
The diagnosis will be confirmed at Kerry General Hospital tomorrow.
The Kingdom are unlikely to make any change to the starting fifteen for the decider, though captain, Declan O’Sullivan is pushing hard for a recall.
