WATERFORD hurling manager Justin McCarthy believes Cork can “scrape home” to victory over Kilkenny on Sunday but expects the game to be very tight.

“Cork have proved themselves over the last two or three years, it’s their fourth All-Ireland and though they’ve been living on the edge in two close games, they’re very experienced. Kilkenny have had to readjust their team because of injuries and Cork’s overall strength, as well as going for three-in-a-row, means they should scrape home, but very narrowly.”

McCarthy, speaking on BBC’s The Championship programme, pinpointed Brian Corcoran as a huge asset for Cork.
