Cats hope Walsh will be fit after treatment for hip injury

KILKENNY have a slight concern over star attacker Tommy Walsh for the All-Ireland hurling final against Cork.

Cats hope Walsh will be fit after treatment for hip injury

The 20-year-old received a knock on the hip during a clash at training on Friday.

The Tullaroan player has been receiving treatment in an oxygen chamber in Maynooth, and should be fit on time.

Otherwise, Kilkenny have no injury worries.

Fines of 750 were imposed following the recent row which marred the game when fans, players and club officials all got involved in the trouble.

* Former Limerick and Patrickswell hurler Paul Carey, who sustained a serious eye injury while assisting his club in the senior championship at the weekend, continues to be detained at the Mid West Regional Hospital.

A club spokesman said that a final assessment on the extent of the injury was expected today. Carey, aged 24, is a brother of former Allstar Ciaran Carey.
