Murphy expecting a searching Cloyne test
"Any talk of three championship wins in a row by me, the players or any member of the team's management, means we are not concentrating on the job in hands and that can be fatal," said Murphy who has overseen his side's marvellous unbeaten run extending back to 2001.
"Having seen Cloyne play and looking at the quality teams they have beaten, they are going to provide us with a right good test of our capabilities.
"They are a fine hurling team, with a number of outstanding players and we are expecting a huge challenge from them, but we are ready for whatever comes our way," he said.
"I've come to learn to take one game at a time in this game and that has been the way I, and the rest of those involved, have gone about our business since we became involved.
"Thankfully, we have no injury worries. Since the All-Ireland final we have had a full attendance at training and from the vibes I'm getting, the lads will have a huge appetite "I'll be looking for a top class performance from our team because we are facing very tough opposition he added.
One has to go back to 1929-'31 to record the last time Blackrock put a run of three county title wins together, and while Timmy Murphy won't talk about it, it must surely be a huge motivating factor for the Rockies to emulate that feat.
This year they are chasing their fourth title in five years which is a tremendous incentive for players who want to conquer new heights and create their own piece of history before the sands of time finally runs out on them, as it surely will.
"We respect them, but have no fear of them," was the message from Cloyne manager Tomas O'Brien as he prepares to take his team into their first ever county senior hurling semi-final.
"They don't come any bigger than Blackrock," said O'Brien. "They have the most titles won and are in line to win their third in a row this year, but hopefully we will have something to say about that tomorrow.
"When we were playing in the junior and intermediate grades, we watched over the years clubs getting to this stage of the senior championship and beyond and yearning to be in a similar position," O'Brien added.
"After playing in the senior grade now for a couple of years, we set out at the beginning of the year to win the county title and it's very much a case of - so far so good. I firmly believe in this tea "The fact that our pitch is right in the heart of the town helps us to get everybody involved in the club.
"Since we went senior we've had some tremendous battles with Blackrock, particularly in the league, but this is the big one. We know we are up against it, but they have to be beaten sometime.
"Why not by us tomorrow?"
