Daly returns with Roscommon

Former Galway football manager Val Daly is back on the inter-county scene - as forwards coach for Roscommon. Daly, who managed Galway for one year in 1997, has been with the Roscommon panel in recent days.

He will join them regularly as Tom Carr tries to give his side an edge in 2005.

Daly, who played all over the field during an illustrious career with Galway, was in charge of his native Mountbellew in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, his side-kick during his Galway reign - former Offaly manager Gerry Fahy - is also on the move.

Fahy, whose resignation as Offaly manager last year precipitated a players' strike, is teaming up with Galway All-Ireland star Tomas Mannion in Mannion's native club Abbeyknockmoy-Monivea.

The two will be aiming to take the intermediate team back up to the senior grade.
