GAA congress under fire

The decision to strike out key motions from the agenda for the GAA Congress in Killarney came under attack at this week's Limerick County Board meeting, when several delegates voiced their disappointment at the turn of events.

Jack Sheehan, former chairman of City Bord na Nog, said they should be passing a vote of sympathy on the death of democracy. Owen Hayes, chairman of the county football board and who had earlier in the year advocated the opening of Croke Park to other codes, was also critical of the stance taken by the committee of eight ex-GAA presidents.

Limerick had been due to take a vote on Rule 42 at their April meeting, with a number of clubs having proposed that Croke Park be opened to other sports.
